of sound in general needs flat dwelling ... what you think is quiet in one area, is not in another. When you are in the bath. You can hear in the kitchen or other room above crystal clear. It is not for the faint hearted who are easily offended either.
The shared gossip about the bedroom habits that echo and of general living. It is funny at first hearing the neighbours above, rather than at the side. It was strange not to have two entrances too. And the drainpipes chucking down the third floor bath water has a waterfall in waves effect. There are no gurgling tanks in the loft. It is two floors up. The pipes and electrics can echo through.
The door entry system can turn off. Those that knock are generally other residents. The door entry system used to hoot when the door opened and closed. The noise emitted from above our door. We had this turned off. Those that leave the door ajar meant it continually hooted.
The design of the home have the bedrooms away from the central stairwell access. And it can be hard to hear the more new door entry arrivals ... again the sounds are quiet where they need to be. You can hear echoes above from the central rooms ...
... a little of life in three storey high flats ...
Temporary Accommodation
We came straight into the ground floor flat ...
It was ironic then, that I did get to experience, like some do ... the Temporary accommodation experience, that is of much hate ... but assisted me in a time of requirement ...
I spent three months in an alien, but peaceful environment
It was quiet and the only family I could hear were the shared bathroom times ... No, I did not bathe with them! The extra door to the bathroom facilities echoed in this shared space.
There was a much more sense of camaraderie here...
These were more modern than my flat ... still an old extremely expensive heating system
It was family who rallied to pay for this in part.
Especially in the snow that we had that year in January through March ...
